The days of white walls with hints of color here and there are gone. With the doom and gloom of the pandemic lingering, people are looking for a way to bring some inspiration and joy into their surroundings. If you have to work from home, you might as well add some color to it! Who said working remotely can’t be fun?
Adding a fun color to your walls or even your furniture is a great way to liven up a room and bring some personality into a space. Think deep green walls, a pink velvet couch, or even a charcoal ceiling. After all, we didn’t say the colors had to be bright. “Darker colors can actually add depth and dimension to a room by adding warmth to the space,” says Designer Joel Fazende. Just like in life, it’s all about balance.
Not sure how to use colors in your space? That’s where we come in! Finding colors that complement each other is key. Avoid adding too many colors to a space. In this instance, less is more, especially when it comes to bold, bright colors. Sticking to a color scheme that involves a palette of like colors will help keep you on a steady track. It’s also a good idea to find the more difficult colors first like those found in furniture or rugs. You can always change the color of your walls for a relatively low cost, but finding furniture to match your walls might have you saying ‘no’ to a dream piece because it doesn’t fit into your space. Work around your furniture, not the other way around.
